New build. All parts are in hand so I dont have to buy anything.
I am using the following----
Range 150 yards max
ACOG NSN
Larue 12in rail

The question is ....use a 14.5 Bushmaster Heavy barrel or a LMT 16.1 M4 contour barrel?
Where will I gain the most?? The heavier barrel or the longer barrel..

Dont worry about SBR or M4 feed ramps.

Any thoughts?

Well, if you have no plans for long-range shooting, you might as well get the 14.5" to benefit from its compactness.

I concur.

Go for M4 contour Bushy. Screw HBAR.

I would choose the lighter 16 inch barrel.

I'd go with a Superlightweight or an M4

If your max range is only 150 yards, why the ACOG NSN? At that range it doesn't matter what barrel, they all will do the job.

I WOULD USE THE 16 INCH BARREL

I'm going to disagree with the herd on this. If you already paid for the damned ACOG, you can see and hit out to 400 meters +/-, so you might as well put a tube on it capable of hitting out that far reliably. I'd put a nice 16" mid-weight stainless, like a White Oak Armament from Adco or something similar. No one ever regretted a good barrel.

The ACOG NSN is made for 14.5'' bbls... just a thought

Your range is 150 yds, but what are you going to use it for?

Guys I allready own all the parts. I dont have to buy anything.
Intended targets are soda cans out to 150 yards.

So the question is ... build it with a thin 16 inch or a fat 14.5 inch barrel?

Thanks
