I am getting ready to build a ar and have my choice of a standard bolt($100),crome bolt($170) or a tin bolt carrier($180).
Which one do I want?
Thanks!!!!!!!!

Standard bolt carriers work for the military, they ought to work for you.  I used them for 22 years and never had one fail, even in Gulf War 1...

Black (manganese phosphate) is boring.  Hard chrome looks really cool and is easier to clean. Titanium Nitride is kinda pimpy looking unless your AR is a real space gun.

I think it is the general consensus around here that it is best to use milspec bolt carriers.  Chrome and titanium are not milspec and have been known to be problematic.

The money you save on getting a plain jane milspec bolt carrier can be spent on other stuff that will actually impact how the gun shoots...like better optics or better mounts.

Of course, if $$ is no object, get whatever the hell you want!
