I'd like to try that flip-up cap to use my TA31 as an occluded sight. I remember it being mentioned on one of the threads a year ago that it can be pushed inside the objective bell, but I can't find it in Search. Anyone have one? What # cap is it?

Thanks.

Never heard of a model specifically for that scope. It must have been made for a different scope and by coincidence fit in the Acog perfect.

I found one reference to it in an archive search, but it didn't list which one actually worked. The best thing would be to measure the inside diameter with a pair of calipers, then find the corresponding cover to fit. The BC specs can be found here: BC Specs from Midway USA You may need to go one side down to get it to fit inside though.

Hope this helps.

Aren't the BC specs for the OUTSIDE diameter?? BC wouldn't know how much tube was around a specific lens on a specific model scope, so how could they know how big to make the cover based on that?

Any time I've need one, I measured the size of the scope's actual tube, and then matched it up. It's worked fine so far.

Well, you can't put a standard scope cover on the OUTSIDE of a TA31 series ACOG. If you look at the picture, there is no way for it to fit.

The objective is cut at an angle, and the bottom meets up with the handle mount with no real estate to hold on a scope cover. That is why the BWhalen was asking about which one fit on the INSIDE of the objective, since that would be the only way to make it work. It isn't a specific BC application, but there may be one that works. I mentioned dropping down a size because the BCs are designed for an oustide diameter, and would have some extra circumference due to the material to make the cover.

I guess I should have read the original post more carefully...sorry.

I should stay away from technial things 'til after noon, and after some caffiene.

i was bored one day, so i cut the ears off my kill-flash for my ta01 and stuck a 03a butler creek cap on it. a little trimming of the cap's ring to clear the hood was necessary. the result works well enough.

Thanks for everyone's replys, and the list of BC sizes. I think the best plan is to bring my TA31 to the gun shop, and ask if I can try a few until I find the one that fits. I'll post the size of the BC cap here if I can make it there this weekend.
