Colt LE 16" barrel M4 for 1,200 or Bushmaster 16" M4 for 800. I am partial to Colt, both my current ARs have Colt uppers and I have always carried Colt in the Army. I really like that Colt...

If you have the bux and want the Colt, get the Colt. The Colt name and your perception that it has better quality is either worth the extra money to you or it isn't. IMHO there isn't 400 dollars defference between the two. YMMV

Warning Quick Partial Hi-jack and possible effect on purchase:

Do Colts still require special sized Hammer/Trigger pins and or other Colt Only replacement parts?
Something the buyermay need to consider.
Not like you would ever have to replace any Colt part, just curious

I only own one Colt.....1991A1 with cocobolo wood

Bushy.

bushmaster or rock river or stag. all have much higher fun/dollar ratio.
Link Posted: 8/26/2005 10:00:36 AM EDT
I'd say Rock River Arms over Bushy right now. I have been seeing a lot of bad finishes, machining flaws, and blemishs on bushmasters.

If you have the money a colt is always a good choice.

I voted Bushmaster mainly due to cost.......but if you would of had RRA up there they definately would have taken top honors. IMHO

$400 will buy 2000 rds of m193...

I doubt the Colt is worth $400 more than the Bushmaster. I doubt the Colt will resell for 33-50% more than the Bushmaster after 10,000 rounds.

I'd get the Bushmaster and get some other shiite too.....

Link Posted: 8/26/2005 11:35:54 AM EDT
why not buy the Colt M4 for $1,100, and have what you really want. (knesekguns.com)

after all, the money will be quickly forgotten, and even if it was a factor, you could recoup that difference if you ever sold it.

(come on rifleman, you've spent more than $300 in one night chasing hookers, for Heaven's sake!!)

we're talkin' AR's here!!!

COLT AR's!

You can build a Colt quality AR without going over a BM AR price and get a better weapon IMHO.

Don't forget the Stag/CMT MPI bolt!

+1 on $1100 LE6920 from Knesek, or build your own.

I put another 200 rounds through my 6920 this morning and loved every monute of it

Main problem with having my Colt carbine is it makes me want to neglect the other ARs in my safe.

Colt.
Link Posted: 8/26/2005 12:43:02 PM EDT
Is this a trick question? COLT of course!
Link Posted: 8/26/2005 12:48:11 PM EDT
RRA!

Colt's customer service is...........................what am I talking about Colt doesn't have any customer service for civilians anymore.

BM is reputable but the fit, flinish and function award goes to RRA.

If you didn't have a good reputation on here, you'd be labeled as a troll for such talk.

Either way you can't really go wrong (discounting the "Lemon Factor" as any manufacturer can let a bad one slip by). I'd say buy the Colt if you're wanting a safe queen, or the Bushmaster if you're gonna use it as the good Lord intended. I know the Bushy only has a 1 year warranty but you may want to check the website regarding the Colt. You might also want to consider Rock River Arms (lifetime warranty) or Armalite (check website) since you're already in the neighborhood pricewise anyhow...

What's this "safe queen" stuff with Colt I've been hearing around here lately?

I run my Colts so hard that I've been wearing grooves into the receivers below the charging handles.

Colts have a lifetime warranty, as outlined HERE Cosmetic corrections and grip replacement are made within the first year.

I'd build my own, but if I had to choose between the Bushy and the Colt, I'd buy the Colt and throw it in the safe until a rainy day.

Hear, hear.
Got the barrel so hot on my Colt LE6920 "Safe Queen" two weeks ago I melted the carpet on the bench and the Rangemaster commented on how much brass I had put on the ground (1250 rounds without sweeping up ), could barely walk down the line without rolling around on it.

If that's a "Safe Queen" then I guess I've never had anything but.

Haha, it will be either this or the Colt. Thanks for the inputs. BTW, I have never owned a safe queen. My weapons work hard for their money.
