I'm looking to get a Gov't Profile 20 inch upper receiver for an AR15 I will be building. Maybe it's just me but I can't seem to find many of them. Most uppers I see have the heavy barrel instead. Are there any good sites I can check out that sell them?

I've been looking for one to. Are they normal stock items by Bushmaster or will I have to wait? The catch is I want one with a 1 in 7 twist.

Bushmaster. I ordered my 1:7 govt profile last week and was told that there would be a 6-8 week wait

Patience my friend. It'll be worth it.

I assumed that I'd have to wait, which is why I ordered this week. I wasn't planning on buying a barrel until November I picked up an upper receiver and a rear sight for October. Building an AR with $200-300 per month is hell

Did you just order a gov't profile barrel from Bushmaster or did you order an entire upper receiver? I didn't see any complete gov't profile upper receivers on Bushmaster's website, just barrels.

Does anyone know of any other places that might sell complete gov't profile upper recievers?

Bushmaster will assemble it as you order it. Its good stuff. If you're really impatient, ask around some military surplus stores, they ought to have some new production FN uppers....j/k

Email Sent! Is the upper a2 or a3?

That's a sweet looking AR you have pictured there. I guess I'll have to give Bushmaster a call and see what they can do for me......

I called up Bushmaster and they told me that have a few 20 inch gov't profile barrels and assemblies in stock. My guess is they are probably just some left over pre bans but I guess that doesn't really matter.

Here's my question. The barrels Bushmaster has in stock include an "A2 Birdcage" flash suppressor. Maybe I'm just confused but I thought an A2 flash suppressor and a birdcage FS were two different things? I thought that the birdcage flash suppressors were on the old M16A1's and the A2 flash suppressor came about with the M16A2. Am I missing something here?

I recently received a pre-ban style Government Profile barrel from Bushmaster within a few days of ordering. Apparently those were in-stock on 9-14.

They had no flash suppressors though, so I had to wait a few weeks for a Phantom to arrive.

If the flash suppressor that is included with that Bushmaster gov't profile barrel is indeed the older style, couldn't I just remove it and replace it with something else since the barrel is threaded?
