Anybody know where I can locate some 50 round 9mm Lanchester mags for sale?  Been looking, but have come up empty.  Thanks in advance.

Reports been for maybe a year now IMA is out of the 50 round mags.  Best bet now is to have a fella that goes by "Bust Off"in Michigan or "Dan Hill" in WV weld Sten mags together for 55-60 round mags, more if you keep adding length.

Thanks for the leads.  I'll have to see about the folks that weld the Sten mags, as the Lanchesters are too hard to find or just too pricey when you do!  

Any idea what springs they use in the welded Sten-Franken-mags?  how

I think most of the fellas use a piece of tubing as a crimp to hold the springs together,  but I would simply figure an amount of overlap, and "spot" springs with a TIG.   Do the "spot" on the long straight portion of the spring, stay away from the corner, as that is where the "spring" is.  Nothing excessive needed, just a handfull of spots to hold spring together.  That is how I did a 50 round AR mag back in '90.

Thanks for the suggestions.  The tubing seems like it would be an easy/quick kill, but could have the potential for binding.  Think I'll play around with tack-welding some springs.   The $2 mags were certainly cheap enough to do a little experimenting on, and not fret over the outcome...  May as well give it a try!

Any tips on welding the tubes together, for a back-yard hack?  I can weld the wheel back on the lawnmower when it busts off, but can't claim any expertise or finesse.  Would appreciate anything you can share to increase my odds of success...  

BTW--how did your 50 rnd AR mag work out?

It works ok, but I really need to get rid of the pop rivets that hold the 2 mag bodies togehther via an overlapping plate on each side.  The rivets interfere with the follower when it pass the joint.  I should get somebody tio TIG it, and then add a green follower I suppose.
