I looked in my manual, and it looks like for the Carbine you should mount
the foregrip to the end of the rail.

It seems like it would be easier to hold with it mounted back a little, but
with it mounted on the end, I can hold it like a normal rifle or use the pistol grip.

How do you guys mount yours?

Mine is mounted just to the rear of the centerline of the handguards if you were lookin' at them from the side.

There is no "Proper" place for the VFG. Put it where you like it

I actually wanted it a bit further forward originally, but it was such a pain in the ass to get it as far as I did that I left it.  It works pretty good and is comfortable for me to shoot.

There is no rule and that's the beauty of the rail system, the location can be changed where you like it anytime.

mine is at the very end of the rail.

I liked mine as close to the magwell as possible...I have since removed it and just use the magwell now.

I mount mine about 6-7" forward on the rail. I feel it gives me better control, though it is harder to hold at the ready for long periods of time. However, I can always switch to a magwell hold if my arms get tired with the grip further out.

I prefer mine towards the rear.

For me toward the back on both Heckle and Jeckle.

Mine sits on a shelf in my room.  I have gone back to a magwell hold.

Never bought one for the same reason - anything other than magwell for me feels "odd."

Not real an Optics question, but...

Did you try the Dieter? I have used almost all of them and the Dieter is the only reason, I haven't gone make to the magwell. That is with a weapon without a weapons light mounted.

None of my ARs currently have a VFG, but my USC/UMP conversion does...

I like it as close to the magwell as I can get it...
