Would like to rebuild one of my uppers into a KISS rifle.

Of the brands I've found available, none are brands I consider "high-quality", though I might be wrong.

What "high quality" brand are you looking for?

Complete A1 milsurp uppers pop up every once in a while. Sometimes they're beaters, sometimes they're cherry. I had the fortune of finding a dealer that had a few at a local gun show a couple years ago for $300 each. Arsenal refinished upper, brand new and unfired SAK barrel, brand new triangle handguards, and a brand new Colt bolt group. With the understanding that SAK (Saco Defense) barrels were only installed as replacements, and that the upper receiver was refinished, I believe the upper was rebuilt and put away by the .mil some years ago.

Sadly, your chances of finding the same deal are not so good.

You can find used colt's if you look around, I can't remember off hand who carries them.  

Not sure what exactly you are looking for to be "high quality"

I've picked up several milsurp A1 and A2 uppers here in Michigan. Colts, FNs and a couple of PMs on pre-ban retro builds.
