Something to consider if the mid length is negotiable.  I have a couple of J & T Lightweight Tactical uppers on Cav Arms lowers and the assembly is feathery light.  The J & T Barrels are fluted.  Makes an extremely handy rifle.

Thanks. I emailed ADCO to see if they had any.

BCM makes a government profile Midlength.

Rock River, but I question whether they actually exist.  RRA makes great stuff, but has a bad habit of advertising stuff made of unobtainium.

The CMMG uppers from AIM are supposed to be GI profile under the handguards, but the RRA will be a touch lighter, since it's turned down forward of the front sight as well.

"Government Profile" does not equal "Lightweight".

Wow, you suck at the interntz.

You can choose between 5 different bbls in a drop down menu; underneath "select barrel" (whoda thunk?). One of the five options is "Chrome Lined Lightweight 1:9 +$40.00".  Gotta watch out for those drop down menus, they can shneak up on ya.

Yup, that one's a 16" gov profile middy, but you could also get a Sabre 14.5" gov profile middy from PK, too: www.pkfirearms.com/store/get_item.aspx?id=1443&action=display (1.5" shorter = slightly lighter ).

And while the above "gov profile" is, IMHO, similar in weight to an M4 profile (pretty light and handy), the lightest would definitely be the 14.5" light weight middy, e.g., from RRA or CMMG (second from the top).

I don't know about lightest... I probably could have found a lighter gas block, but this is a pretty feathery build I just finished for my wife:

CAV-Aid lower
DPMS slick-side, high-rise upper
CMMG 14.5" mid-length light-weight barrel
Phantom 5c2, pinned FH
YHM Specter length customizable forearm
YHM Specter gas block
TD stubby vert grip
CMT bolt assembly
Burris Fastfire red-dot
