My Olympic 9mm carbine uses 5/8x24 threads on the muzzle. I am looking for a tap and die set for it. Anyone know where I can get this w/o having to special order?

Are one of these patterns more common than the other?

Is the 5/8x24 a common 9mm and .308 muzzle thread? I am trying to find a tap and die set w/o having to special order. If it is a common thread pattern then I should be able to find it somewhere. Brownells doesn't have it and my local machine supply shop says it's a special order item.

You'll find 5/8-24 to be a common thread for large centerfire cans, and for the old DTA 9mm Mil-Brake, I had 1 for Uzi, and had a fella thread the barrel to take it. 1/2-28 is a comon thread for 22 caliber, so AR/M16 muzzle devices can be readily used. Do a GOOGLE for "5/8-24 tap" .... a ton of hits. I think you will find 5/8-24 on the end of a M-60 barrel, 9/16-something on a Ruger AC556 model.

A lot of the 9mm ARs use 1/2x36. .30 cal rifles usually use 5/8x24.
