What's the cheapest one you can build?

I've got a couple nice AR-15's, but I'd kinda like to build a cheap cheap beater just for the halibut.

What style AR would be cheapest to build, Vietnam-era semi-auto or a basic M4gery or a 1990's style rifle or what?

Knowing that accuracy is not at all a high requirement for this particular rifle, just wanting a plinker, what are the cheapest receivers and bbl assy's that can be found?

Can a complete rifle be made for under $500? Under $400???

Used parts are okay too.

Anyone ever built a clunker junker cheap lead chucker?

I'm sure it can be done.

Hell, You can get a NEW oly plinker for like $550.

But seriously, hit the EE everyday looking for parts.
There are some killer deals if you are patient/know how to haggle a bit!

AK build you can do for about $200

i think it was stickman that did a AR-15 for about 200 but he had some freebies and spent alot of time on the EE

Regarding accuracy, it's not like I don't care at all; even crappy AR's usually shoot better than most Mini-14's.

I basically mean I'm not gonna pay anything extra to get better accuracy than minute-of-beercan.
That's pretty much guaranteed.

I'd really love to have a cheap and very lightweight carbine.

Along the lines of a 14.5" pencil-thin bbl with welded on FH to up it to 16", with an A! upper without forward assist, I assume that would drop a few ounces.

I guess Bushmaster has a stubby stock that is 7.5 oz lighter than the telestock as well.

I want to make something as light as possible without going Carbon.

the least I have built an AR for is for $337.20. I purchased a used post ban parts kit off of a friend of mine for $200 and then bought an Olympic lower for $130 at a local gun shop. The only thing I did not have was the detent to hold in the selector, so I rigged one out of a finishing nail. I then took it to a gunshow and traded it for a left handed 870 Wingmaster and $300.

Here is mine i built for $377 Every thing came from the EE boards excepet for the lower recivier and it was a blem from Superior Arms.

In terms of all new, i think the del-ton kit (~ 500) and your own local lower (~ 100) is the best all new gun

I've built two different AR15s under $200, and I have never bought anything from the EE. While the EE has some great deals from time to time, the best deals are always face to face.

The only thing I can say is wow. Under 200$ Im kicking myself in the ass when I thought 644$ was good.
