Is there anything that performs better than the PEQ-2? Just wondering.

Depends on how you define better?  The PEQ-2 is pretty good at what it is meant to do, but there are more powerful laser pointers out there, but  when your straping it to a rifle a PEQ-2 is hard to beat.

Maybe not better, but less expensive and up to performance level of a PEQ-2a

What performs better than the AN/PEQ-2A at being a selectable low and high power IR aiming laser as well as a selectable low and high power focus-adjustable IR illuminator?

I'm not sure if there is another product out there that performs all of those functions.  Maybe you could get a better IR laser that might be power adjustable.  Then maybe you could get a better IR illuminator that might be power adjustable and capable of focusing the beam.  Would those two components be better than the AN/PEQ-2A?  They might.

ETA: See the two posts below?  I stand corrected.

IMHO: having used both the Atilla 200 and PEQ-2A the Atilla is better...

I would like to lay my hands on this unit as well.  The only problem I have with the PEQ-2 is the durability over time.  If the Atilla is built anything like the Vital 2, it will be a keeper.

The only problem I have seen with the PEQ2 is the little nubs that hold the filters on are easy to break off. Somehow I think this statement should have been in my original post.

Anyone have a price for the ATILLA?

After my first field exercise with the 82nd abn I really wish I had a PEQ2 instead of a PAC4...  so I'm trying to buy something like it or just an IR tac-light or something without breaking the bank too badly.

The NVEC website lists their price for the ATILLA at under $1500.00.

ETA: Just checked and $1425.65 is exactly what they list.

Most of the quality IR stuff is all LE/MIL now (by manufacturers choice).

No idea where one woudl get anything as a civilian.

NVEC's policy is they do NOT even sell to LE Dept's., ONLY DOD/Govy.  I would assume getting NVEC's products outside the govy is very difficult even though they are legal to own.
