If there is more than one manufacturer of mags, there will be a similar thread.
On a weekly basis.

I'm looking forward to 'pre-ban' USGI mags being cheaper than Orlites (finally), OR Orlites for under $5...

There will not be a 'next ban' unless Kerry gets in -> as a realist, the pattern of the anti-gunners is very obvious. They will try to ban SOMETHING ELSE now, as 'Assault Weapons' are old news now, and not as 'exciting' as (sniper rifles, or whatever)...

As a survivalist you'd be crazy not to buy as many as you can while you can! We all think the same. What did the Survival Instructor or DI tell you? "Piss poor preparation='s Piss poor performance"? So buy them cheap and stack them deep!

i can't wait to laugh at the gunshow dealers who are still trying to sell Colt mags for $35/each.  they've sat on them so long that they lost out on the opportunity to actually make money on them.

Prices finally seem to be dropping locally. One of the local dealers has used USGI mags for $12.

This is my plan as well!!  Just because there is 25% of the finish rubbed off dosen't mean they don't work!

I bought my teflon Labelles new in the wrapper with green followers for $18 each.  Ban or no ban, that is a pretty good price.

Now my Glock prebans...that's another story.

And when you get loaded up with mags and finally think, this is enough, you can them put money into MORE AMMO.

thats the price they been going for here in okc for the past couple of years I even got 10 at a gun show for $100 this past spring, everyone including myself is hoping the price is going to drop when the ban ends, but I don't think their going to drop back to the preban prices as all the dealers have been getting what they've ask for them for so long and if kerry gets elected we gunners should expect some new form of ban and restrictions to follow soon thereafter, which will drive the prices higher than they are now, if we will even be able get them.

The 20 or so in my safe need some company, and post-AWB the cheap ones (USA, Victor) are going to get buried wayyy back on the shelf in favor of USGI's.

Got a question since we will all have bunches of new mags in a month.  How long can you leave a mag loaded before it affects the spring?

oh god not this question again.

You can leave it loaded for the rest of your life it will not affect the spring.  What wears out the springs is using them like loading mags and them. Overcompression can wear out the springs as well so leave only 29 loaded.

Mods need to tack a more detailed post about leaving mags loaded.

Thanks for the info repub.  I looked under the FAQ's about mags and didn't find anything so that's why I put the question out there.  A detailed post about this in the FAQ's would be nice 'cause I've been told all kinda different things. Doc

No problem, but this question seems to come up very often and it just needs to be tacked.  Maybee we can get Troy to write a brief summary and post it!

In the last 18 months I have sold:

252 refinished USGI 30s, 12 refinished USGI 20s, 1 MGW and 1 BetaC. I'm down to less than 50 USGI 30 and 10 USGI 20s. I have been betting that the ban will sunset.

My plan is to buy 100 usgi mags every 6 months. The question is will the budget allow?
