Yeah, the blue-painted barrel and 20 rd style mags (most of which are translucent plastic when seen up close) mean simunitions.

Thanks, QS.

Interestingly, I saw an LE Simunitions training session outside the local mall today. I was putting gas in my car at a nearby gas station, when I heard pop-pop-pop-pop-pop. I instincively stepped behind my car and ducked my head before I looked around to see what was going on. Behind one of the new stip centers near the mall, about 150 yards away, I spotted about 25 city, county, and state officers and realized what was going on.

I have never seen a pic of one of the Sim mags for an AR before.

Take a look at UTM, they replace the bolt carrier group in AR's/M16's/M4's, shoot markers, and run the action.  They are rimfire and thus won't fire a misplaced 223.

Actually I meant that in a non-sarcastic, non-smartass way. I've never seen one before.

about $ 1200.00 will get the pretty cardboard box and whats inside and if you are really nice , the simunitions rep will throw in a box or two of ammo. Wes at MSTN had couple for sale last year. I really wish I had some disposable income.

I recently went through building search training with Simunitions.  A kind, anonymous soul donated several Simunition Glocks to our deptartment.  We also have a MP5 and a drop-in kit for the 870.  Simunitions are, in a word, unforgiving.  Really tests your use of cover/concealment and shot placement under stress.  They are outstanding for force on force training.  The face shield/helmet and neck shroud are a total PITA, but neccessary as the rounds can lacerate bare skin.  The ammo prices are a little on the steep side too.

I am a professional bad-guy at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (Glynco, GA) and for the past 6 years I get to shoot FX Simmunition rounds at Federal Agents in training. We use Sigs, Glocks, Berettas, and MP5s! It is the ULTIMATE in firearms training.  This is by FAR the best training simulator out there....two thumbs up!
