I have a stainless, 1/9, FF, Hbarrell, 16" T upper. It likes WWB 45 JHP but I can't get it to shoot better than 3/4" groups with a clean barrell from a bench.

I want to shoot a heavier bullet 60-75 grain.

BH red box 60 gr Vmaxs shot 1.5-3" groups.
Remington 55 gr PSPs 1.5" groups
WWB 45 grain HP .75"
BH 68 gr HMHP .8-1.5
WWB 55gr FMJ 3-5"

Does anyone else have one and what does yours like?

My Armalite 16" midlength(same thing as yours) shoots the H 68 OTM and H 75 OTM pretty well.

Both bullets are pushed by a max charge of N540.

68s = 1.8" @ 200yds
75s = 2.2" @ 200yds
BHBB 52 OTM= 1.75" @ 200yds
BHBB 68 OTM = 2.00" @ 200yds

I use the black hills blue box for comparison when developing loads.
I would advise the 52 hollow points for accurate plinking and there heavier loads for longer range target shooting.

That short barrel with the 1/9 twist will stabilize a H 75. What more do you need out of a carbine?

Armalite isn't offereing the 16" stainless match barrel anymore. Glad I got one when I did.

Thanks for the reply.

Is yours free floated?

l like the rifle and use it on a daily basis. It looks like you are getting a little better accuracy out of yours. I am about to try some BHBB 55 grain soft point. I will also give the H 75s a try.

what type of optics do you have on yours?

I have also junked the scope mount that is in this picture and upgraded to an armalite 1 piece long before I started trying different rounds.

Yep it's floated. I don't know why, but I like the fiberglass float tube. It looks distinctive.

My carbine has the A2 flash suppressor, collapsible stock, Eagle Arms lower, Armalite two-stage trigger, and a 9mm buffer.

I shoot mostly irons. I do have an el shitco BSA mildot 4-16x 40mm scope. It's good enough for some load eval and grass rat duty. I mount the scope with the Armalite 1 piece mount.

Your carbine can reach out to 600 yds accurately if you push heavier bullets fast. Velocity takes a pretty good hit with the short barrel.

Have fun.

Is the 9mm buffer heavier?

I am about to send mine to Dtech and let him do a little tuning on it. I am debating about putting a flash hider and having the barrell fluted under the handguard.

I like the handguard also but I am about to put one of the YHM lightweight FF handguards on it. I need another place to put lights.

Yeah it's heavier. Can't remember exactly. Around 5.4 to 5.6 oz. Almost twice as heavy and the standard buffer. The difference is noticeable. Don't jam up the boards with another buffer thread. Just spend $30 and get the RRA 9mm buffer from ADCO.

I'm not much into fluting, but the spiral flute is cool. An AR just isn't right without a flash supressor.
