The Scout Light is basically an E series light with a built in rail mount. The E2D has the same on/off tailcap as the Scout light and it's a lot less expensive and has the same exact specs minus the mount.

I was wondering what mounting hardware is needed to rail mount the E2D?

Can someone post pictures of this steup (the e2D in a one inch ring as described above)???

Thanks in advance!

I'm going to be testing this out on my E2e, if someone hasn't already posted pics I'll do so when I get mine setup.

I'll post more pics soon with different style rings but Hurricane Jeanne set us back on spare time.

Great pics!

Is there a reason you switched out the shrouded tail cap? BTW, who makes the rings and mount you're using in the pics?

Sweet! That looks entirely functional hance
ARMS or GG&G would make a killing off an E2 specific QD mount, considering the Scout is nothing more than an E2e with a built-in mount and there's a plethora of E2e's already on the market! hanks

The only thing I worry about with the E2/Scout light is whether or not it can handle the continuous recoil from sustained rapid fire shooting. Supposedly the Luxeon 5W LED head will be a lot more durable than the standard bulb.

Calvin,

What's your expreience with this setup? How well are the E2 bulbs holding up under the recoil?
Link Posted: 9/30/2004 7:10:16 AM EST
Oooh, that reminds me. I forgot I have an L2 that I can mount as well Yes, LEDs are much more durable and will handle the recoil better. I think the HOLA of the E2 should be able to handle the recoil no prob, especially if the Scout system doesn't use a shock isolated bezel.

Makes sense to me. It's now starting to sound like the E2e would make a better "Scout Light" than the E2d. BTW, is the tailcap you're using in the pics above a like regular E series models with the momentary on by pushing the button and the constant on by truning it?

I remember that there were issues with mounting stock 6Ps as weaponlights due to failures under recoil. Is this not a problem with the E2D?

I have never understood why the E2 series put the ridge that stopped battery movement in the back instead of the front like on a weapons light.

Brightflashlight

Do you have the scout lights in stock?

Why not use an A2 Aviator?

"A2 Aviator as Weaponlight"
www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=20&t=204200

The E2 has the lip at the rear of the battery housing because removing the need to fit the batteries out through the tailcap threads reduces the diameter of the tailcap and body. Compare to a 6P and it's easy to see the relationship.

Hey guys,

This is what I had in mind for mounting the E2e/E2d. Anyone willing to become a US distributor? Chris

That looks pretty neat but how exactly does it hold the light? Please tell me it's not being held on by the clip...
Link Posted: 10/12/2004 10:13:27 AM EST
It appears there is a solid ring around the light (the part with the hole in it). VG makes some really trick bodies for the E series, so I doubt it is Airsoft quality and held on by the clip (man, I hope not). I made a dumbass move and ordered one from Supremco in HK, so if I EVER get the mount I'll give a report. If this thing turns out OK, someone here should really step up and become a distributor.

Vital Gear website. The lack of info on the mount has me worried :( I emailed them for more stats on the mount. Oh well, ya live and ya learn h.gif

Strider47,

Yes, I noticed the ring but they don't have any pics of the back so I can't tell if there is some way to tighten it. I was wondering if the hole was a place for the clip to grab on to, I hope not...

Either way keep us posted when you get it.

Ah the heck with it. I'm going to try and cancel my order with Supremco. I got the Brighflashlight home-brewed mount yesterday and it's stout enough for my use. It looks OK as well. BTW, I need to send you the $$$ BFL, what types of payment do you take?

Thanks,
Chris

Heheheheh... I got mine too, pretty ingenius huh?

It really is. Doesn't look too shabby either. The best part is the light weight. I'll have mine out to the range on Saturday and hopefully the HOLA in the E2d will take a couple hundred rounds.
