Picked it up at the gun show this morning, its aluminum 3-pos, only marking is a "2" on the right side. Black rough "krinkle" type finish. Any help??

the extra material above the latch makes it look like it's from the same maker as my Bushmaster to me..other than the 2, does it have a little "B" cast into the left side

here's one of mine (on a 2pos. tube) after refinishing..

Nope, no "B" cast into it at all... just the "2" stamped into the side.

this has come up before and no one ever identified it.  it's not a bushmaster as the texture on the buttpad is cut into the metal vs the recessed waffle pattern of the colt/bushmasters.  they definitely appear rougher.

NESARD?

I'm not totally "on the up and up" with all the early aftermarket parts, but a lot of the early aftermarket parts were either NESARD or Lone Star Ordnance.

the big problem with ID'ing these aftermarket alloy stocks is there really isn't any consistency even among the same distributor

both of these were "B" marked and purchased from Bushmaster (about ten years apart), but as you can see they are a bit differently configured ...the top one having a bit truer top sling mount and the bottom one being  more faithful to the originals around the latch area

In an older Brownells catalog, 2006 I think, they list an aluminum CAR stock by Tony's. Never heard of them before, nor seen one. Anyone know what Tony's looked like?

What did you use to refinish it?
