who makes the lightest 2-7 power scope?
Link Posted: 9/10/2005 4:33:16 PM EDT
good question...maybe the VX 1?

I've been looking for short/light scopes for a particular application, and the Leupy VX 1 seems fit the bill. It's 10.5oz. The Swift is a whopping 14.2oz, by contrast.

Not everyone makes a 2x7, so the choices are somewhat limited.

Browning: 11.7oz
Bushnell Elite 3200 12oz
Nikon Monarch 11.2oz
Simmons Master Series Prohunter 9.5 (not out yet, iirc)
Weaver Classic V Series 10oz

Those are a few of them.

Here's a Leupold 2x7-33 VX-I mounted in Leupold PRW High rings on a GG&G GS-1 rail.

Plenty of rail room to get the glass far enough forward for proper eye relief. Combined overall weight of scope, rings, and mount is 23 ounces IIRC. The scope alone is 10.5 oz. per Leupold.

Rimfire glass is set at too close a parallax distance for centerfire rifles.

+1 on the parallax

Unless you want to shoot at 50 yards don't get a rimfire scope.

I *think* the Leupy rimfires are set to 75 yards. Still not 100, though.

BTW, I just ordered the Weaver myself...I'll let you guys know how it is when I get it.
