You answered your own question.

Look into RRA and Stag.

They tend to use substandard parts.
For example, the handguards that came with my upper were really crappy molds, and had no heat sheild.

No, they were at one point, but haven't been for awhile.

Okay thanks.

YEAH, what kind of a name is that for an AR, PLINKER PLUS, That takes away the effect of an AR to me. Your at the range and someone asks " what model olympic is that?" and then you say in a low voice "its a plinker plus." pffff.-

Hahahahaha. Funny stuff.

But yeah, from what I hear, stay away from Olympic Arms. For roughly $100-150 more, you could have a Stag.

I have never owned an Oly rifle , BUT , My AR Pistol is built on an OLY forged Lower.

The Fit -Finish- and Function are Perfect.

What are some of the specific problems you previous plinker owners encountered? Have any of you had problems with the new forged ones?

yeah

I agree, buy what you can afford if you want new, or buy a used 'better brand' name.

my friend has a forged plinker plus.
he likes it and has not had any issues. He does not shoot thousands of rounds per range trip though.
he is a 20-50 rounds a trip guy.. no crazy stuff.

I held it and it seemed like a good rifle, but I did not tear it down or drag it behind the truck/toss it/beat it tests like I do for my rifles..

RRA CAR A4 kit

Complete rifle minus stripped lower for $620.00 standard $660.00 chrome lined. The upper is already assembled to make life easier. You might want to save your money a little while and get one of these or a Stag.

Only problem I have ever seen on an oly was a broken extractor pin after 15k+ rounds. Rifle is from the Match line.

Bravo Company has some nice looking uppers for sale.
