Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - What is the Source of the SA80 mag?

I have just ordered some SA 80 mags from the EE.
This got me to thinking where do the vendors get these magazines from and how do they import them to the US from England?  I thought Bush 1 or Clinton banned the import of hi cap magazines.

No, the import of hi-cap mags was not banned, but importers must obtain documentation proving that the mags being imported were manufactured before 9/13/94, and provide an audit trail for them.  Otherwise, they can only be sold to government/LEO types.

The Brit SA-80 mags were manufactured in the 80's and early 90's.

They were recently replaced by H&K made mags as part of the attempted solution to the SA80's reliability problems.
