I bought my Varminter about a month ago. I have tried at least a dozen different rounds so far.
It seems some old stock 52 grain black hills HP is the most accurate so far. It will consistantly shoot under an inch with some 5 shot groups around 5/8s. I tried some recent blue box 55 grain soft point and was dissapointed with it. Groups were OK but nothing to brag about. I expected better. I noticed they were loaded in WCC cases with some residual of that strange bullet crimp that winchester uses on their 55 grain stuff. Don't know if that had anything to do with it or not.
Whats the most accurate factory loads you have found so far.

Tag because I just got my varminter barrel installed and broken in and tried sighting it in with 55gr winchester  ballistic silvertips and couldnt get a decent group to save my life (not to mention they were short stroking). Then I ran some of wwb 40rnd value pack stuff and it ran flawlessly and held a 3" group at 200 yds. So I would also like to know what factory loads you guys have found to run well.

Federal Gold Medal or Black Hills 69 or 77grn SMKs loads will probably get ya sub-MOA right off the bat.

I shot some federal gold medal 69 grain earlier in the week.  One group was 5 shots in 5/8s at 100. The rest from 1 inch ro 1 1/4.
I have found the Winchester Value packs (made in Israel) shoot exceptional in both my AR's. Best for the money I have found so far.
Here are a couple from the Blue box 52 Grain HP from black hills....this ammo is at least 10 to 15 years old. I have several other groups like this with this ammo.

Mine liked very light bullets the best...  40gr VMAX Black Hills Blue box was turning in groups under .5 MOA   (Black Hills has switched their 40gr load to Nosler BTs, so YMMV)

If you are intending to prairie dog hunt forget all the matchkings or hollow points.  WIth over 50,000 rounds thru ar-15 and 22-250's the best 2 bullets for prairie dogs are the v-max and the ballistic tip noslers.  The blitz is not bad either.   The matchkings or HP's act just like FMJ's on the dogs and they crawl away.  the v-max blow up the prairie dogs like a m-80 up their A....'s.   My DPMS super bull 24 1-9 puts 10 shots inside of a dime at 100 yards with the 55 v-max molly .

I've have very good results w/the 68 and 69gr loads from Black Hills in my Varminter. I haven't tried anything heavier yet though so I guess my results could get better. My biggest problem is that the range that I frequent is only 100yards long. At that range, almost all good ammo is a one hole group for me. When I get a chance to streach out a bit (800yards), the red box 69gr loads have done very well (<1moa). I'm still testing loads though so you can bet that I'll be buying a few boxes of whatever gets suggested in this thread.

Bushmaster Varminter + Black Hills Blue Box 68 gr Heavy Match Hollow Point =

Also, there was another thread around here regarding the BM Varminter.   You might want to look for that thread.  There was some good info in it.  Good Luck!

I have an Evolution Gun works 20" match barrel, and can get .5 to 1 inch groups with:

WWB 45's Jhp
Black hills blue box 75's
Pmc 69gr. match kings

I did try some Federal 52 gr. match that made consistent .5 or better but price and availability is why i don't use them. The number on the box is p223k.
