Ah, one of the few times that biggerhammer.net info might come in handy. That would be an earlier Bushmaster receiver, according to biggerhammer.net. I still have my doubts on alot of the info there. For example, they list EK as Bushmaster and I know for a fact that is EMCO, not Bushmaster. It's an iffy source. TIFWIW.

So BK is Bushmaster/Kaiser?

I could never find an definitive answer on that one.
Could just be Burger King.

My Bushmaster upper from about '93 has just a "K" below the A1 rear sight.

I had a postban factory rifle that had the splintered "A" on it. I have seen postban and noban Bushys with the keyhole on them also.

As always, the forging mark is a very iffy indicator of who finished that receiver.

I wonder at what stage of finishing they are when received. In the White? Raw forging? 80%?

Just a SWAG, but I'd bet most purchase the raw forging and have them sent to a sub, who finish machines them, who then sends them to a second sub who anodizes them, then they are sent inhouse for final assembly and inspection.

Adding, I'd bet the purchasing agent has all the standard forging suppliers and calls them as needed and purchase from whomever has what they need, at the time and for the price they want to pay. That is why you see different forging marks on rifles from the same company. It's all business to them.

I have factory preban Bushmasters with FK and DK, although all were A1 uppers. But they didn't come with this:
