Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - What actually defines a USGI mag?

I see around here a lot that everyone only recommends USGI mags.  What actually defines them.  Personally I have a Bushmaster M4 and I only bought bushmaster 30 round factory mags.  Are they considered USGI?

Are there specific brands of mags that are USGI?

USGI are made to government specifications.  Some of the 30 round manufactures are Sanchez, Colt, Okay, Simmions, and Center Ind.  There are others that can be find above.

I think Bushmaster gets their mags from D&H IIRC.  I've got 10 Bushy mags NIB.  Never used them so far, since I'm still getting my other ones "broke in".
