My serial number is SP-1965XX (6 digit). In 1978 it was at SP-83000. The below list doesn't go past 1978 for "SP" prefix numbers. AR15 serial number list |

Mine is an original SP1 CAR15 and the number is 1053xx, six digit as well. I don't understand the serial tables either. I'd like to know when mine was made as well.

I found this. It appears the SP1 version was made up until 1985. At least we know ours was made between 1978 and 1985. Link |

I bought my SP-1 Rifle at the end of 78' and it's # is 97xxx.
Edited to add I bought NIB. |

I have one with serial number 173XXX, and it was definitely made in 1983, if that helps any.
