I want to build my dad a Colt SP1A1 type CAR15.....now, my dad isn't "super gun knowledge savy" so if he see's the " FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT, MILTARY, EXPORT ONLY " thing he'll be all worried about the implications....I am not gonna argue with him about it as it is a waste of my time. SO intead of buying him a 6520 I am gonna build him an SP1 carbine clone.

Here is my question: which model number lower do I need to purchase that has all of the proper components. SPECIFICALLY THE FRONT PUSH PIN HINGE PIN. Like most of you I despise that friggin screw that Colt uses on their "civilian" guns and I want the same push pin setup as is found on my 6520. Is there a reciever that I can purchase from someone like Rguns or Hoplite that has the proper setup. I have ZERO desire to modify one of their current "cosmetic" fakes that have the "dead" mag fence/retaining plunger surface. I do not want to go through all of the motions of the layout and drilling and then have to reanodize the damn thing again.

So......is there a reciever on the market, made by Colt that will fill my needs?

SAW sells Colt 6400C stripped lowers with a standard front pushpin. Is that what you're after?

Aside from the rollmarks my 6400C lowers are absolutely identical to my 6920 and 6721 lowers. The 6400C lowers lack the foolish LEO/export markings.

EXACTLY what I need. Thank you, Good and Kind Sir.

actually the new law enforcement carbines from colt don't have the "restricted to law enforcement/miliary only" markings.

Both of mine do, but they were made in 2004 just after the sunset. How recent are the models without the markings?

Do they still sell them? I'm very interested in these. I've been considering building an M4 and this would be the perfect lower!

I'm not sure, but I think sometime within the past 4 months, definitely after yours.

They have not had these for some time now. What's in stock last time I checked were the AR15-A3 (aka "Tactical") lowers. IIRC the price was around $300 range assembled, with a ribbed stock.

They did have a few of the 6400C lowers as of about three weeks ago-they had been out of them for quite some time. For those who don't know, here is their website www.specializedarmament.com/

ETA: Oops, didn't see that MarkM posted the link already. That'll teach me for not being more observant

His link goes to the same place mine does.
