Went to a show today and saw 500 round cases of Federal XM193 for 100 bucks and I also saw a Colt SP1 in good condition for 1295 bucks. Are these prices the going rates, or were they good deal to look for again next time?

I assume you are talking about the Kingston Gun Show being as you are from NY.  That sounds like a lot for an SP1.  There is a FFL dealer in Saugerties who has one that is in mint condition,  I mean almost brand new for $900.  E-mail me if you want more info.

If the ammo was packed loose and had PD in the name, then No. (XM193PD)

If it was boxed XM193 yes that is the going rate. The SP1 on the other hand was grossly overpriced.

Neither is overly impressive, with the SP-1 being close to robbery.

It is a preban in a ban state, so I guess that's why the SP1 was that high.  I always see SP1s used for over 1000 at local gunshows, more often than not around 1300,  and I'm in the free state of AZ.  Then again, most at the local shows sell Colt LE models for 1600-2000.  The only good deals there were SAW for 1200-1400, and it wasn't untill I found this site that I realized they can be had cheaper than 1200-1400.  Moral of the story: Gunshows are full of price gouging jerks.  You pay a huge premium for being able to buy it there and then.
