I'm looking to set up my m16a1 with a colt-style 9mm system and I want a mag block that isn't going to ding/gouge/scratch my lower up too badly. I know the inside of the mag well isn't all that visible, but I'd still prefer to keep things looking "as new" as long as possible.

Any recommendations?

TIA,
Joe

Leave it in the safe and buy a "shooter"?

The block ideally wont cause anymore than you installing-removing 223 mags every 20 or 30 rounds. The block will just sit there and the mags will rub the interior of the block, until you remove the block 1000 rounds of 9mm later (maybe 50 mag changes) to the inside of the block.

Buy the VM Hy-Tech block.

I'd like to buy a shooter, but they seem to be about $10K these days ... so I think I'll just try to treat my '16 nicely.

I thought I'd heard some other owners talk about some mag blocks gouging lowers. Perhaps mag blocks with set screws.
