a link was posted in the full auto section of an aluminum bolt carrier.

http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=14&t=177099

Is there anybody currently making these ?

not sure if anyone makes them but I think I would rather have heavier steel.

Completely useless in a semi-auto.  In a F/A I'd bet a carrier that light would be a bear to get running right.  You'd most likely have problems with bolt bounce and unless you went to a seriously heavy buffer or exotic buffer system to slow the rate down I couldn't imagine it lasting very long.

JP Enterprises is making an aluminum bolt carrier for their competition rifles. It is available at jprifles.com

JP's goal seems to be reduced recoil by reducing reciprocating mass.  (wow alot of Rs)
