I've seen pics in the build-your-own thread of people putting the a5 stock on a .308. When I look at Vltor's site, they say the a5 is NOT for the .308. I would really like the extension over the std. A2 stock, I used to fit a 1" pad on my issue rifle for quals.

I was wondering what set-up emod users have to work on the .308?  What size spring and buffer, etc.

Edit - rifle is a DPMS LR-308.  I wanted to go all custom, but Santa beat me to the punch.

You can't use the A5 buffer is to long use a H3 carbine length  buffer. ETA with the A5 length receiver extension is the same length as the AR10 RE.

LINK   I have one on an AR10.

"If you are using the A5SR tube on an Armalite AR-10 carbine and rifle, you must use the Armalite AR-10B Operation Spring (Armalite Part #EA1095) and AR10 Carbine Buffer  (Armalite Part #ECO120)."

I'd like to make sure I have this correct before I start ordering things, (or finding the parts in stock anywhere.)

I seem to recall reading somewhere people complaining about fitment on Armalite parts, anything I need to worry about for the DPMS?

Buy list:
A5SR tube
H3 (6.1 oz.) buffer or the Armalite buffer (mentioned in the link, #ECO120)
Armalite AR-10B spring
End plate & Castle nut

Correct?

The armalite H3 buffer is 5.3oz  and is 3.250" long DO NOT USE the Vltor A5 H3 is 4.00" and 6.1oz and it is a longer buffer it  will damage your firearm.! You have to use a 3.250" length buffer with the A5  RE with a .308 type build.

OK, I understand now, H3 is brand specific, not some global spec like metric tolerancing.

Thank you very much!
