I've been up and down the boards looking for a comparison of the two systems with no results, and  my window for blowing some cash on my AR is closing fast. I'm leaning towards the CASV-M just because I'm not planning on running an Eotech in the future. Still if there is any gain whatsoever from the CASV-S aside from the EOTECH co witness I'm open to consideration.

Also, will the Magpul MBUS work with them. Currently I'm running irons on that rifle and the MBUS not working would mean ditching the FUG, and buying a Troy rear.

Thanks in advance!!!

That's a negatory on the mbus working with the casv. Personally, I'd just get the M. I don't like the looks of the S, and if I was going to run an eotech, I wouldn't want it all the way up there.

I you don't have a fixed front sight/gas block, then I think you may have to use the supplied front sight that comes with the casv.

One small correction.  You have to buy the Vltor front sight, and it's $70.  I don't like it myself, but that is what you  are stuck with if you have anything other that a fixed front sight.  One of theses days I will get motivated and try to build something better.

I assume you have a mid-length and have thought that through already.

The step is for mounting the EoTech forward in order to achieve an absolute co-witness.  There is no other real benefit.

Also, the M model does NOT come with a flip-up front sight.  That is extra.  It does come with the 2" rail piece to fill that void, however.  Really under-rated piece of kit.  I like 'em.

ETA:  So I guess that is the great value of the step.  You can mount any flip-up sight you like.

That's exactly what my worry. From the looks of it, the railed top, runs back the same length on both models. MBUS takes mores than 2 slots to attach in order to stay within the length of the receiver and not stick out over the extension. Will i have to buy another BUIS if i go with the S version?

I have the casvm with their flip up front, i run a tri power and an arms flip up buis for the rear, it is an awesome set up very clean... tried to run an mbus no go,  it's close, you may be able to mod it to work if you're into that.

Well im into modding, but not "half-assing" . By the looks of it, the MBUS is a clear no-go with the CASV.

Thanks for the input guys.
