We are looking at a 24" AR for varmint shooting, which out of the box AR is a better bang for the buck? Rock River Varmint or the Bushmaster Varmint.

Thank you

They are both very good from what I've heard. I'm partial to bushmaster because I've got one. I'd check out the new BM predator.

I just got my Predator.  You might want to check it out.  I am shooting it this weekend and will report.

Since you said bang for the buck than I would have to go RRA.. no budget than get a Bushy.

I've shot the 24inch Varmit EOP that RRA has, and she is a real smooth shooter.  Never shot a bushy Varmit though, so I wouldn't want to make that call just yet.

All else fails, get both...

CR6724  The Colt accurized rifle, 24" FF, simply awesome accuracy.

Works for me.

As a newb I myself am looking @ these 2 rifles...I'm leaning towards the RRA 24"; $900 @ ADCO Arms, stainless 1:8 twist, and some folks here haved claimed that RRA has a better 2-stage trigger. IMO it sounds either would make a great buy, but @ this point in time the RRA has a slight edge.

RRA. Their Varmint rifles are known for excellent accuracy.

I like RRA, as for their 2 stage triggers (a bit off subject) I think they are great however if you can get a KAC 2 stage you would deffinately get your moneys worth, they are great. Makes my RRA 2 stage feel like crap.

what about the DPMS 24" super bull?  I think that would be a kick ass varmint gun.  Slap a JP trigger, a good scope and a harris bipod, and you'd be wacking splatter dogs in no time.

IIRC, RRA Varminter is available with your choice of either a 1:8 or a 1:12 twist. BM & DPMS come only w 1:9. Also, the RRA has a Wylde chamber, DPMS & BM advertise a .223 chamber.

However, the important point is that any of them will out shoot you !

I like the Varminter (bushmater)I bought last month....got it for 1050 from a local guy and he still made 10%.
It shoots great. No Offense against the others either as I may order one of theirs also.
Shot this with black hill 52grHP at 100 yards this week.

And this with military FN 1977 this week
