Ok gun fans, I'm on my second ar build. Here are the basics, RRA lower with a grizzly manufacture A2 upper. All inner workings are RRA. Barrel is a 16 inch RRA wilson r4 conture(Yah it came in after a 4 month wait). A2 flash hider(but I will proubly switch to a Phantom).

Now it is time to get the furniture. For the handguard i was leaning toward YHM carbine 4 rail. I do not want to free float.

My question is- Vtor stocks- good/bad? Your thoughts please. Thank you in advance.

VLTOR is the best stock I have used thus far.  They cost about twice as much as a M4 stock from RRA, but the checkweld is awesome.  The battery/stuff storage is a plus.

I went with VLTOR on my ACOG topped rifle... because I wanted a better cheekweld for my optics than a standard stock gave.  I loved it so much, I put one on my M4 with the aimpoint.... for the same reason.

They are good stuff.  If you are on a budget, they arent necessary.... but I really like them!

They come with a clubfoot carbine design or a standard design (for the way you collapse/extend them.... ) and I have to say I prefer the standard version.  I got one of each....

Vltor makes an excellent quality stock.

With that being said, only when you lay your face against it, will you know whether or not you like it or not.

Quality is unquestionable.
Improved cheek weld is a matter of personal opinion.

Good.  I have four.  Two fixed A1s, a carbine and a carbine clubfoot.

The phrase that sold me was - "It's like laying your cheek on a pillow, there's so much area for cheek weld." - or something like that.  Anyway that phrase convinced me to try one, and I couldn't help myself after that.

Couple things, how do you pronounce VLTOR?

Why buy one for cheek weld when I can use an A2 stock or slap a piece of foam or Cheek Eez on a carbine/M4 stock?

I like the Vltor A1 fixed - I have two - one on a AR10, one on my SPR. As others have said - nice cheekweld but YMMV.

VLTOR is pronounced  "ULTOR"

like: ull-tore?
or:   yule-ter?
???

jeez, I thought it rhymed with Mel Torme!
seriously!

Anyway, don't own on myself, but if money allowed, I'd buy one in a second.
(might need to shave a bit tho'...heard it can snag you a bit.)

I like mine better than the LMT!

I love mine!

You might not like it if you have a beard though. Apparently beard hairs get caught in small crevices in the stock.

This can be fixed very easily with a piece of tape however.

Can anyone compare the VLTOR to the Magpul?
