Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Use of same b/bc/ch in different guns

I have a RRA heavy varmint upper with bolt, bc and ch.  I just got a used (new to me) m4forgery upper.  It did not come with a bolt or bolt carrier.  Any reason not to use the varmint bolt and bolt carrier in the new upper, or do I have to buy another?  Thought I had read somewhere that they get seated such that they match one gun and its not good to switch one bolt carrier/bolt between two differnt uppers.  Any truth to this or is it bull.

The concern with changing those parts is one of changing the headspace when swapping bolts between uppers. The other two parts can be swapped at random. The only concern with the BC is that the gas tube may not line up perfectly with the carrier key. If you have a GO and NOGO gage feel free to swap at will.

I still haven't tracke down the source of the "lug lapping" myth but it's exactly that.
