I have a M4 style barrel that has no markings on it at all that I can find.  Brand new, chrome molly.  I think I can run a patch throug it and count the revolutions to get an idea of twist but any ideas on makers of unmarked barrels?

thanks

Where did you get the barrel?
Was it on an upper when you bought it?

Most unmarked barrels are from the low grade manufacturers.  I have a couple from ASA, they are all 1:7

Was on an assembled upper, The upper has the "keyhole" mark on the side of the carry handle.  I was looking for an upper and went to a shop that had a 20" upper.  The 20 was beat and I then saw this one.  Knew it was a "generic" build but the BC was staked and it had the double heat shield guards on it and was available so I took a chance.

Brand new and I assumed that it was not going to be top notch parts.  I wanted a shooter, not a rifle I was worried about dinging up.

Considering the uppers here need to be "ban compliant" there are slim pickings.

my cheapo century arms a2 has one of those "who the hell made it" barrels, but it shoots good.  i dont know how you can really accurately check barrel twist without some sort of gauge.

I think most keyhole uppers with unmarked barrels are ASA.  They are good uppers and barrels.  I think ASA is back in busness too. Just looked them up on the industry forums, they are 1:9 now...or maybe they always were and I am wrong about what my barrels are...LOL

Run a patch thru the bore and count turns and compute against length.Simple and works.

Thanks for the info guys.  Now to research whether I have a forged FSB or not and to read up.  I have been out of the black rifles since about 2004 or so.
