Got two stripped receivers, just WAITING to have parts shoved at them.  I'd like to build a decent M4-type, and an M16A4-type.  What details need I include on these things?  I'm not terribly familiar with exact configurations of the above two rifles, but I do know that I want both to be flattop uppers.  Anyone wanna lend a hand?  thanks.

Yeah.  I'll help you build them.  Just give me a call.

For the true M4gery, go with a 14.5" barrel with a permanent flash hider, some type of rail system (non-FF KAC M4 RAS, FF LaRue rail, etc, etc), and a (obviously) collapsible stock.

I would say for a M16A4 look, go with a flattop 20" upper, a KAC M5 RAS, and a TA31F.

BTW, both barrels would be 1:7.  But 1:9 or 1:8 is fine too.

Remember to post pics!

I just finished building mine (yet another one!)  a few days ago.  This is my first real SBR, It's a Bushmaster pre-ban lower,  BM flattop upper, BM 14.5" M4 barrel, BM carry handle, and YHM 4 rail handguards.  I just ordered a GG&G vert grip from Brightflashlights, next will be a Shurefire light and hopefully after saving my pennies a Aimpoint.

Real A4's sport the carry handle for back up, usually carried in the ruck.

For your M4gery, decide if you want a fixed or a flip up.  For a fixed, I'd say Larue or LMT, or ARMS #40 for a flip up.

Or maybe an ARMS #40L.

Hey guys, I am looking at getting the YHM handguard.

First of all, is this the right one here: www.bravocompanyusa.com/Page2.html?

Second, I noticed it says it comes with a barrel nut.  How do I remove the barrel nut that is on the barrel right now (if I even have to do that)?

Thanks guys!

You'll need, of all things, a barrel nut wrench and a set of receiver vise blocks.  THat's the easy part.  Removing the front sight involves a lot of hammering and bad language .  Check out the 'build it yourself' forum, there is a tacked how-to thread.

I don't see anything about removing the front site post on there.  Forget it if I have to do that.

It's on that page, but it's the 4th and 5th items down from the top.  The YHM Handguards simply replace the existing plastic handguards.  No need for anything else, just remove the old handguards, and put the YHM ones on.  I think you're looking at the 4 rail FF tubes.
