I'm wanting to keep my standard 20" HBAR upper, but I don't know what I can do as far as making my preban Colt lower into a "new" rifle... Either a 16" suppressed SPR A3 handle, KAC, Surefire, front flip-up sight, rear flip-up sight, nice optic, Magpul Stock....

Or, a 14.5" with a perm. attached flash supp.

My questions are:
- How accurate is the 14.5"bbl accurate out to?
- What "yardage" do you gain between the 14.5, 16, and 20" barrels?
- For the area I'm in, which is a combination of rural, urban, city, country area, but housing around. What would a good rifle be? (For future Police issue use).... Or home-defense?

If you want a tactical rifle, make an 18 inch SPR. For a do-it-all rifle, 14.5 is deadly, with the proper ammunition, at any range you are likely to need to use lethal force. ammo-oracle.com This website talks about the range and effectiveness of different barrel lengths.

Get both. The SPR is 18". 18" is probably the optimum length for the rifle, but the most readily available "do-all" lenght is 16". Unless you go NFA, it has to be 16" so why not make the most of it and get all the velocity you can? Besides, choosing 16" over 14.5" in a case where you are using a can, makes for a more versatile setup. Do the Dissy as a posty, or wait for the ban to expire.

Anyone have any good SPR links, info, etc? Thanks though, I'm going to start with an M4, then go the SPR route I believe.
