There isn't any other board on the net that has guys that would enjoy this pic as much you all, so I am posting it here.  This is a 50BMG case cut down and stuffed into a Saiga 12.  It appears that it would run just fine with a rifled barrel and very minor modification to the bolt and extractor.  I have no plans to do it, as it would be deemed a DD, but it looks cool nonetheless.

For some reason, I thought that smokeless-powder rifles over .50 cal were considered "destructive devices" and needed to be registered.    I guess they aren't... does anyone know what might have put that notion into my head?

Anyway, you're a nut.  You're my kind of nut

Edit: never mind, I see from FanoftheBlackRifle's reply that it is a DD.

You can go over .50 caliber if the rifle is deemed by the ATF to be for sporting purposes such as the big double rifles and such, in 600 and 700 Nitro.  If it doesn't have a wood stock and look like something made in 1920 for elephant hunting, then it's a destructive device.  It's a ridiculous interpretation of the law, but thats how it goes these days.

Dammit......you have to make that......if SSK can get an exemption for the 950 JDJ you can get one for that monster......just think of the $$$$

Well, if the S12 barrel handles the pressure...

It's merely a new variety of 12GA slug...

You can still make DD's though, nay? It'd be the gun, not the ammo, right?
So, $200 tax stamp and you can shoot your 1billion gr bullet? :)

On another note, you should make some of those bullets (inert) and sell them as curiosity's. :)

[evil laugh] bwahahahaha [/evil laugh]

Here Tony, try these for fun and function

Same round, one with Rigby size rim and 308 sabot, the other with 50BMG rim and 50 BMG sabot ...

Would using the sabots be illegal as well? I realize that they are basically slugs, but that 50 BMG sabot is too cool.

It's the bore diameter that matters.  Used to be ATF would walk around gun shows with a "calibrated" [roll eyes] metal slug of .5xx" diameter.  If it would slide down the bore, you were over the DD limit.  Seems they now have agreed that if it takes 50BMG bullets (which are .510") then it is still OK, above that requires exemption or DD permit.

Do you offer any customization work on Saiga 12 gauges, or is that a one off thing? I would like something similiar to that, thouh I would prefer AR type sights and a RH folding stock.

Do you offer the rail as an accessory. I can see how it attaches in the back, how dows it attach in the front? for example, does it attach to the ahdngurad or to the barrell through the handguard?

I like the placement of the light above the barrell, that is a particularly good spot for them in my opinion.

BTW, what is the latest and greatest news on the M1 Carbine in .502 thunder sabre and the Mini-14 in .458 Socom?

BTW, I do beleive that you mgiht be able to get an exemption on the 700 Pile Driver just as JD Jones got an exemption on his recently introduced 14.5mm.

I will say that in all honesty, while I would buy a .502 Thunder Sbare, .458 Socom, .500 Beowulf/.499 LW and am honestly looking forward to purchasing either a Mini-14 .458 scom or a M1 Carbine .502 TS (preferably this one), I would NOT but one of the 700 pile drivers. I am certain taht that would be too much gun for me. However, other may have different opinions.

Also it is the bore diameter that counts not projectile, so a sabot couldn;t help in that regard. Even if it was projectile diameter, the sabot would likely be included.

If you get bored again, I'd like to see a cut down 50 BMG case like that necked down to say 223? :)
Sure, I know you'd have to be pretty bored, but it'd be neat.

Hell, just sell me one of the dummy cartridges for the pile driver, it'd look good on my desk

There was the 338/50 Talbot, a 50BMG necked down to 338 caliber and with the sholder angle increased to 35 degrees.

I still have not fired the .502 ThunderSabre M1 since I worked on it last.  One time at the range, I forgot the ammo and the second time I forgot the gun.  I normally take a pile of stuff to test, so something usually gets left out.

The mini-14 .458 SOCOM and AK-47 .458 SOCOM both ran perfectly at the range.  I do not plan to make any more of either of these, but I will sell the prototypes if anyone is interested.  The mini will be $600 and the AK will be $1,100.

How did I miss out on the .502 M1 ???   Sounds like fun.   I remember years ago reading about a .45 Win Mag conversion for M1 carbines, that would have been great.   Hell a .45acp M1 carbine using Thompson mags would be loads of fun.   Hint hint... Tony?  Oops I realized .45acp would be too small for you, how about .45super ;)  (yes I know it's the same but with a bit more oomph)

Ah, damn... I was saving my shekels for a Mega-14, and I know someone will best me to the prototype

That big-ass .700 is just too cool, but I don't think my shoulder could take it. It'd probably be like shooting a rifle grenade from the shoulder and you can guess how I know about that !

If the 700 Pile Driver is a DD is the 600 Nitro Express also a DD?

I was looking at the Alexander Arms  50 Beowulf at the local Cabela's and I thought that was huge until I saw the 600 Nitro Express cartridge lying next to it.  The 600 Nitro was $24.95 at Cabela's  PER ROUND!
