Picked up a trijicon MRO yesterday, any suggestions on mounts and lens covers?
Thanks

I don't need QD or the minor weight savings of the more expensive aftermarket mounts, I'm happy w/the factory 1/3 cowitness mount.
However, there are many quality aftermarket offerings, you'll probably find more info in the Optics forum.

Tenebraex seems to be the only lens cover, I just ordered one so I do not have any experience with it yet.

Do you think the Trijicon brand ones are overpriced?

The Trijicon ones aren't terribly over priced when you compare them to Butler Creek covers.  I mean, they're definitely more expensive but it's doable I guess if you want covers.

I use the ADM co-witness mount for my MRO and love it.  ADM makes great stuff.  The Sidelok stuff looks intriguing too and have heard great things about it.

I'm interested in the slim/forward one that Larue has produced.

I did the solid Larue mount for the MRO. The cantilever mount looks good, but has no space savings over the solid mount. This I think is due to the compactness of the MRO, unlike the Aimpoint PRO and other simlar Aimpoint models.

To the OP, I use a Larue solid mount for the MRO on my AR, and my second uses the factory low mount on my M1A SOCOM 16. Very happy with both.

Id say SLR rifle works or the BAD mount.

im new to using red dots, would i be better off using lower 1/3 co-witness or full co-witness? I'm a tall guy so a non-flush mount is preferable.

Kinetic Development Group's Sidelok mount is a killer mount for the MRO. We have one for ours and it's great. I believe its a lower 1/3 co-witness as well.

The height of the MRO mount you select depends on your preferences and the configuration of your rifle. My Colt has the standard carbine hand guard and a front sight base. I thought I wanted 'lower 1/3 co-witness' but the sight stuck up too far for my liking - I didn't have a 'cheek weld' that way.

So I went with the middle height, 'full co-witness' which turned out to be perfect for me. I have no need for 'QD' mounts. Now that its sighted in, I doubt the MRO will come off the rifle in my lifetime. The BUIS shoot fine through it.

So, with both sight systems zeroed at 50 yds, I have 'absolute co-witness', for what that's worth, which is basically nothing. You would never use the BUIS with the red-dot turned on, so it really makes no difference if the BUIS are sighted in at a different trajectory than the red-dot. Whatever, with the medium-height mount, there is plenty of room for the red dot over the front sight base so the tall mount really shouldn't be needed at all. I don't know how anyone could use the short mount on an AR even without sights. I know I couldn't scrunch my cheek down far enough to see through it.

I prefer the 1/3 cowitness personally, it gives me a little more freedom on the cheekweld and I don't have to smash my whole face into the stock to get a good sight picture.

As stated above though, it is personal preference and somewhat depends on your rifle setup.
