Any info on the can? Have you tried a Google search for the MSDS?

ETA: Looks like they are the same, only different.

Slightly different compounds, but close to the same make-up. Probably the reason for the smell.

I think I'll start wearing gloves with this stuff ! Cannot be healthy over long term contact.

P.S. Another interesting bit of info....Tri-Flow is marketed under the Krylon Products Group which is a subdivision of Sherwin Williams.

I've seen Tri-Flow and have thought the same thing, it claims the same thing as CLP on the container.

The MSDS is for health safety, it identifies what is dangerous in the chemical, it does NOT identify everything in the formula. Yea, they often have enough info, that if MSDS match, its a pretty good clue they are the same, but its NOT a guarantee.

I've seen people claim two products were the same because the MSDS matched, but I looked at the MSDS and found they both only listed 3 basic ingredients in a product that had more ingredients than that. You can get the opposite as well, they sometimes have very detailed lists and its pretty obvious if the details list match if its the same thing. I "think" they are only required to list the ingredients that are dangerous to humans, but don't know for a fact.

I never claimed the MSDS would state whether both products were the same or not. But, it's always a good place to start if there are questions.

Different chemicals between the two, but uses are the same. I just prefer break free.

Tri-flow has more teflon in it, is what I was told.

I know it's good stuff. I used to use BreakFree exclusively, but then my father-in-law gave me a can of this stuff and I use them interchangeably now.

The 2 MSDS' aren't even close so I'm not sure where people are getting that they are. BF is PAO/ester based where as the Triflow is mostly Naphthenic oil (mineral).

They are also made by totally different companies.

Yes, but is smells almost as bad as Ballistol.

Tri-Flow can be used to lube a AR-15 but Tetra Gun is better for the task.
