I`ll be going from Ft Worth TX to Phoenix AZ for Thanksgiving this fall.  My route will take me acroos New Mexico.  I want to take my AR so the Grandkids can shoot it.  Is anyone aware of any restrictive laws in NM or AZ that would prohibit me from carying an unloaded AR in my car?  I realize this is a fairly broad question.  Im just looking for general info from someone who lives in either state or knows something about their firearm laws.

Keep the rifle unloaded in the trunk and you'll have no problems.  NM and especially AZ are VERY gun-friendly.

In AZ at least, carrying any sort of gun in an unloaded condition is frowned upon. What good is an unloaded gun?
