I have the opportunity to get a LE6920 for my 6520 and a small amount of cash.  Any reason I shouldn't.  I'm mainly doing it for the upgrade to the A3 upper.

Anyone?  I know this thread comes up every couple of days, but I need a little motivation. I want a Colt but I want a A3 upper.  I won't be buying optics any time soon but I want to have that option.  I wish Colt made the 6520 with a flattop upper.  I'm not into building AR's quite yet, so buying an A3 upper, remounting the barrel, and installing a "F" front sight base isn't an option right now...

If the condition of the rifles are similar.  and you are not giving up too much $$ I'd say go for it.  especially if you initiated the deal.  A3 +1

Have you shot the 6920?

My current rifle is actually a Competition Match HBAR lower with a Colt stock and a 6520 upper with M16 BCG in 95+% condition, with 2-300rnds through it.  Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to fire a 6920, but I've handled them and can live with the small amount of muzzle weight gained.  The trade is for my rifle and small amount of $ for a new 6920.

I'd do it, how much $$.  even $100 for a factory complete rifle is worth it for a Colt whore like myself

I dunno I'm pretty much set on the deal...I was just seeing if there is any reason I shouldn't do it...  I'm very indecisive when it comes to selling a firearm, even when I'm purchasing another.

Back on topic, the 6920 for a parts gun 6520 is a good trade for you.

Are you going to get the detach carry handle? If not then thats another $100 or so for a BUIS or CH.

For you pragmatics,

The picture was the first posted with a new camera by my bud jollyroger in hometown.  the inscription kinda relates in the "this guy already has his mind made up on the deal but wants to be reassured" kind of way.

...Besides where were you when the poor guy had to bump to get some comments Mr. perfect picture taker

how much is a little more cash?

sounds like a good deal to me but if your opinion of a little bit of cash is actually a lot then there goes that.

I would say do the deal - the resale value of a used 6920 is more than that of a 6520, and will be easier to sell if you ever need to get rid of it.  I would say your used 6520 plus $100 for a new 6920 would be one heck of a deal for you.

I've got a 6520 myself, it has all of the updated features (M4 cuts and M4 stock). I prefer the 6520 because of the lighter barrel and fixed carrying handle (I prefer iron sights on my rifles) over the 6920 personally.
