I want to upgrade my trigger and cannot decide between McCormick 3.5# single stage and Timney's 3# single stage. Is there really that much difference?
Thanx,
Don

I've used multiple examples of both, and it's hands down Timney. The CMC was scary unpredictable (but exciting).

Not Sure, but I think you can not get the McCormick trigger parts anymore.  Someone mentioned they had called them and nothing was available, could have just been the 2 stage items but not sure.

I've got the CMC single stage and the RRA 2 stage match triggers, but in the future I'll be trying out the geisselle DMR trigger. The RRA trigger I have needs some work but it was very nice out of the box, the CMC was also a step up from the factory fcg.

I own both and prefer the Timney.  The McCormick was recalled shortly after I installed it, not that I ever had a problem with it.  The Timney just feels more precise to me.  I despise the oversize pins with e-clips that come with the McCormick.  Once you install them in a lower you are stuck using oversize pins forever.  Timney's use of stock pins and set screws is a more elegant solution and easily reversible.

I have both and love them equally. I started out with CMCs and have yet to have problem. I have however cursed my Timney, but that was my own fault for not reading the instructions word for word. After a crash course from Timney Support I'd say they were equals.

Varmint Rifle -- CMC 1-stage 3.5#
9mm SBR      -- Timney 1-stage 3# (btw thanks badazzar15)
556 SBR        -- CMC 1-stage 3.5#

Don't get screwed by the overpriced Gucci Gear pushers.  Send your trigger parts to Bill Springfield, or buy one of this premade sets.  www.triggerwork.net/ar15s.html  A ton of positive feedback has been posted about Mr. Springfield's work.

AR-15, AR-10, all makes, standard small and large pin Colt  - 4lbs pull, very short, smooth, clean break. $35, add $5 for "speed hammer" modification. For 3lbs pull $49 (new match spring set installed; hammer tail removed ("speed hammer") for more positive ignition).

My CMC doubled on me a week ago last Sunday. Thanks to the good folks at Brownells I will get my money back. I called CMC a couple of months ago when I heard about the recall. I got my trigger in January and they said it would be fine, whoops.
