I remember a 25 yard target to sight in a Eotech but can not find it, can someone help please?

Zero at 100 yards. Use a 100 yard rimfire target.

Sighting in a 100 yards/meters (or 50M) is more flexible.
For example, if using M855, if you zero at 25M, at 50M you hit 2" high, at 100M 5.5" high, at 200M 7" high, and at 300M, .7" high. Zeroed at 50M? 1" high at 100M; 1.5" low at 200M; 12" low at 300M. Zeroed at 100M? On at 100M; 3.75" low at 200M; 15" low at 300M. Less than 100M, you are just a smidge high (1" at 25M, .5" at 50M) Where are most of your engagements going to be? 100M - 200M or less (unless you are shooting paper long-range). With a 25M zero, if you are trying to shoot a barely visible 6" target at 100M, you are going to hold 5" low off the target to hit it. Try to hit a 6" steel bobber at 100M with a 25M zero when its bobbing. |

related question----where can you get target paper? regular copy paper or bond paper does not permit a clean bullet hole, just sort of a tear surrounding the impact point.

I zero at 50 and use anything that's visible.
I even used a piece of cardboard with a 2" dot spraypainted on it at 50yds one time. As long as you can see the target and the dot, you should be good to go. WIZZO |

Regular paper works just fine - if you staple the target to some cardboard backing first. BTW stand by I've got some new Zeroing targets comming out that will help. Two are specifically for zeroing red-dot sights. One of them will produce a 50y/200M when you only have a 25yard range. The targets are complete - I've just got to convert them to PDF format. |

a total of five seconds of searching found the following link-i have always found using the right item, such as proper targets on proper target paper, always works better than some half-ass expedient...they also have blank target paper.

Folks should remember we are talking about a CQB optic so a fraction of an inch shouldn't matter since you should be aiming at center mass anyway. If you want long range head shots get a scope If you use the above Eotech 300m zero target below I dont think you will have a problem. As you can see the difference from 25m to 300m is very close.

A 6" round target at 100 yards is equivalent to a head shot where the opponent is using cover and you can only see his face.
I used to feel the same way, until I tried extensively shooting at 6" targets at 100 yards (steel "bobber" plates) and had to use a 5.5" low hold off. Its pretty sobering. Its not likw shooting M16 qualification on "E"-type shillouete pop-ups (especially where the close in targets are twice man-size) or the 25M alternative qualification course. My CQB / advanced marksmanship training was exclusively pistol (M1911A1) or SMG (MP5), because the ODAs had M16A2s then. I'm now shooting really tight 100M groups with my various carbines, with either the M68 CCO (Aimpoint) or EOTech 551. My close-in reflexive shooting is still as tight. |
