I have just become aware of these screw-on rails for use on Std. handguards. What is the need for these? Is it so my flashlight is parallel to the bore and  my VFG is now perpendicular to the bore? I am waiting on a flashlight from Calvin, so I have not seen what the beam  looks like on my rifle. Is the beam not being parallel to the bore that much of an issue? What am I missing here? Anyone?  Anyone? Bueller, Bueller?

If you are going to mount any kind of laser sight, they are even more important.

Yes, that would be important. If I was to go laser I would go with a four rail FF tube for accuracy sake.
