I've been having good luck with Fed 550 bulk packs.  Shoot the upper a lot, the more you shoot the better it gets.  You will see posts about light primer strike failure to fire problems. I had some problems with that at first. I did cut 1 coil from the firing pin spring.  It runs great now. I can run 50rds with a BDM drum with no problems. Get the 50rd drum. It loads real easy and is not heavy, you will love it.

Federal stuff from walmart works good, the "Auto-match" is a bit better than the bulk pack.  Anything copper washed or with a dry lube seems to work for me.

Avoid ammo with "greasy" bullets, like Wolf match, etc., 3 -4 shots, and jamb after jamb.  The stuff attracts too much dirt.

Congratulations on your new upper...

Winchester 555 and or 333's are a little more consistent than Federal Bulk.
CCI Mini Mags too. You Gotta have atleast one BDM Drum. It's just too much
fun. I've had mine for months and they still draw a crowd at the range as soon as
people see them...

Just got mine last week.  Ran 700 rounds of federal 550 bulk pack through it without a single problem.

I've got an LT and an M4. Both function very well with Federal Bulk, Federal Auto Match and Win 333 for cheap ammo and CCI Mini Mags for a little more expensive ammo.

Wow, thanks everyone for responding, well, ran into my first problem, I was putting my 5.56 upper back on, when I went to take off the TS upper, the bolt fell out on the floor and I do not know how to get it back together

Is there a specific section of this site where I can find info on how to get it back together, with pics

do you mean the bolt slide off the rail and you ended up with this

if so you need to move the long piece at the end of the guide rod out of the way enough to slide the bolt back on the rail under it like this

then fit the long peice onto the top of the bolt, the top of the bolt has a radius cut into it and there is a matching cut on the bottom of that long piece on the guide rod. you should end up with this

then you slide the whole assembly into the reciever like you would a standard BCG. You should've got an instruction sheet with the upper that shows how to dissamble, if you didn't I'd get ahold of Tactical Solutions and have them send you one.

You normally should get a magazine with the upper but
it may have been some super cheap deal that the distributor
had. I guess they may do something like that. That's between
them and you the purchaser. Depends on how they advertised.

I got in contact with an employee at the shop, he said it should have came with a mag, he instructed me to come down to the shop and pick one up , he also offered to show me how to get the bolt back together, I'd like to get it done myself to restore some of my pride, with the pics posted, I think I can figure it out, but I still don't know where the e clip goes

but I still don't know where the e clip goes

I had a bit of trouble figuring this out as well when my bolt went crashing to the ground.  On the bottom photo of the photos posted above, look at the far left of the bolt.  The e clip goes in the gap between the 2 small, parallel blocks sitting on top of the bolt.

where does the knobby end of the rod go  fuck it, I guess I have to fo to the shop and have them show me how to get this together, and to think I can fully disassemble a Ruger MK pistol and get it back together .

Tacsol emailed me the instructions, but they only say to reverse how you took it apart, but.... I didnt take it apart, it hit the floor DAMN!!!!!!!

by the pictures in my manual the end of the rod with the flared end goes inside the front block that fits on top of the bolt, this is probably how the front block is kept from being pushed off the operating rod from the pressure of the spring. I would assume you insert the rod throught the front of the front block then slide the spring on the rod behind the block then put the plastic rod on next and  then compress the spring forward to get enough bare rod showing so you can insert it into the back of the carrier and get the e clip snapped on. Hopefully this doesn't confuse you too much.

I really don't see any need to remove the guide rod assembly from the carrier to clean it. I have put a little over a 1000 rounds through my TS upper and the only thing I've ever removed to clean is the bolt. The guide rod and spring are always clean, I just compress the spring by hand and wipe it down, then put a drop of clp on it.

Thats good to know, I do not want to have to put this thing back together again if I do not have to. My fingers are still sore.
