I will be mounting a tac. light on to a M4 MI rail. It will see very little use and I don't really want to tie up alot of $ in it, but do want to get a decent one. 2 questions:

1. What is the prefered method of mounting- DD thing?

2. Which one offers the best value for the least amount of $. I'd like to spend as close to $100 as I could.

Thanks

Get a decent shockproof flshlight (ie: surefire) and use scope rings to mount it on.  I have a buddy who has a Surefire G2 ($30) mounted just so, and it works fine.

As mentioned, SF G2, Weaver 1" rings.

Quib's got the right idea.
If plastic isn't Your thing Just grab an Original 6P or a 9P, add a Z32 Shock isolated bezel, Weaver ring
and You are good to go.

Best value is the SureFire G2 + Z32 shock isolated bezel and a Viking Tactics mount for $69.

Found them here

Here is what I came up with.

Personally I think the better option would be a pentagon X2 ~$60 plus a viking mount or just a plain old scope ring
Pentagon

+1 to that.

I got a great low-cost package from him that works real well.

Call Calvin at brightflashlights to get you set-up.  I got my SF G2's set up w/ Z32's, pentagon switches and scopes rings.  Best low price package and best customer service. IMO.

For an inexpensive remote tape switch, look at the ones made by Pelican.  $20 instead of the $100 for the SureFire ones.  As good as the SF ones? Probably not, but they will get you through the night, and you'll have more money for ammo.

or build your own using digilight parts, ledwave parts, and gnp parts and make a decent one for under $100

What are the weaver rings hooked up to? It appears angled?

I've got a Vltor mount and mine is angled nicely.  Put the beam right on the POA.

And that package was just over $100 from Calvin (brightflashlights)
