I'm just about ready to purchase a TA55 and wanted to request a pic of one mounted on a 16" Rifle....

Not sure this is what I want or not, a pic sure would help.

I'm curious how long it will be and how high on the rail it sits.

Trying to decide between a TA01NSN and the TA55.

Thanks,

Aprpeciate It-

Here is a TA55A in a LaRue Tactical ACOG mount on my 16" Recon with Troy rear sight.

Edwin-

Thanks for the pic...Looks great.

So tell me, does it feel top heavy?  How wsll does it balance?  Do you like it overall?

I'm looking at the TA55 for the 5.5 magnification but at the same time would like to be able to use it for close range.  I didn't want a scope with variable power.

Do you feel the 5.5 magnification is better than a TA01 4x?

Thanks again-

A couple of things.
First, due to the super bright view and high resolution BAC works very very well with this scope.  When you are moving it from one target to another the high mag makes it blur out really easily, then when you stop on the target the magnified view snaps in.
It is only 5.5X, but the resolution and brightness of the scope make it seem more like 7 or 8 power in terms of what you can see.
Second, it's tremendous light gathering power gives it high marks for use in darker conditions. To me, it's the closest thing to NV without an image intensifier tube.  Of course it has the fiber optic and the tritium like the other BAC ACOGs.

They make 2 models of this scope, one for .308 (TA55A) and one for .556 (TA55).
Choose your reticle wisely, the .556 is mostly useable with 55/62gr ammo from barrels of 18" or longer (it's set up for a 20" A4 shooting M855 3050 FPS) although by sighting a bit high at 100 it's still good for the 16" and even 14.5" barrels with 55/62gr ammo only.
If you're shooting 75/77gr out of a 18-20" barrel the .308 reticle is the one to have (ballistics 175gr match .308 BC .505 2652FPS), pretty dang close out to 700+ meters, exspecially with higher velocity ammo loadings.
Of course the BDC's accuracy will vary with ammo and rifle, and it does extend out to 1200 meters (!!) (TA55 800 meters).

It is a heavy scope, but it's weight is right over the center of the rifle so it does balance well.
I really liked it on the Recon, but replaced it with a TA11C when it came in, as the BDC reticle is perfect for 75/77 gr ammo from the 16" barrell, and overall the smaller ACOG is a perfect match for the rifle.
I had no regrets using it on the Recon, and had even worked out the ballistics to where I know what range each step of the ladder BDC corresponded to with 75gr BHBB ammo.

I currently have the TA55A dedicated to a 18" Douglas SPR style upper.
