First off, is the Black Hills blue box 75 OTM the same speed as the red box? They seem to list it as the same, but has anyone checked that it is the same load?

And what is faster, the Black Hills or the 75 TAP .223? I need data from someone who chronoed them side by side on the same rifle.

Does either the Black Hills or the Hornady have sealed primers?

Thanks.

I've chrono'd TAP Black box (saami)...16" chrome Colt barrel - 2612. 24" stainless steel - 2716 fps. Box says 2793.

Redbox is suppose to be NATO pressure, and at least 100fps faster (from what I read)...

Blue Box and Red box are the same pressure. Red box TAP is generally .223 pressure 95% of the time. There is a specific 5.56 LEO only version.

Red Box and Black Box are loaded to the same pressure. All of the 75 grain OTM loads from them are SAAMI pressure.

The 5.56 TAP is faster than the BH, butthe .223 shouldn't be any faster. The Hornady has sealed primers AFAIK.

Hornady does not have sealed primers just red box Black Hills.

Red box has sealed primers?

Blue box does not?

TAP FPD does not?

Seems like TAP would have sealed primers. But, it also seems that one of these companies would produce a 5.56 75gr load for sale to civilians, too.

Correct also the Red box TAP both .223 and 5.56 do not have sealed primers.

When I spoke with Hornady some months ago they said the primers were sealed, the case necks are not. I don't know why we have differing information DevL, we usually are in agreement. I'm interested in finding the truth.

Someone (might as well be me) needs to:

Chrono these all in a 10.5 inch LMT
Flash test them
document how they are sealed.

I have some of the Hornady .223 on order.
I could use a box of the Hornady 5.56mm, but I can't get it.
I could order the Black Hills but don't have any now.

Im looking at several cases of 5.56 TAP and none of it has any primer sealant that I can see. I have never seen sealed primers on Hornady TAP FPD, Red BoxTAP or 5.56 TAP so I am just telling you what I have seen. If things changed recently then I am not up to speed.
