Everything is tactical these days. So, basically it's a frangible bullet?

No, they are Hollow Points.  I use the 75gr.

Hit the Ammo Oracle for some details on bullet design etc.

Old school 75gr TAP:

It's good stuff, and I'm glad they went to a cannelured bullet.

How 'bout the black nickel coated stuff?  Any merit to claims of improved feeding?  Is this stuff really worth the price?!

Are you asking about the "moly" coated rounds?????

Hornady, Sierra and others sell "moly" coated rounds.

Never heard of black nickle-coated rounds.

According to the guys who research such things?  Yes, quite worth the money if you need to shoot a zombie or zombie mob.

Have not seen any of that stuff in 75gr.  I just ordered 500 from Northwest Loading and it's still the good old red box TAP.  Do they make both or something?

Old stock most likely.  I also received red boxes.

The black nickle stuff is their new self-defense line.  I can't remember what they call it.

Wonder if they will continue to make the red box stuff.

If not, I have to "re-qualify" the black box for my use; function tests over a pretty large
# of rounds etc, just for my own peace of mind.

Sorry to not link it or be more clear...I was really curious flipping through Cabela's to land on those black cases.

It is at a different price point correct?  So is this a case of improved case design, or a marketing guru deciding black is tactical?  Not one to dabble in metallurgy, but seems to me the reloading crowd would be better off not reinventing the wheel?
