Everywhere I look is out of stock!  Wait of 18-20 weeks?!?!  Holy hell!

Anyone know where I can pick one up for a reasonable price?

Do you guys think the TA31 is worth the money? I've been thinking about getting one myself but have reservations about the price.

I got mine off E/E.  I was a little nervous about that kind of money ($800.00) on glass for my AR.  Best damn thing I ever did.  It makes long shots easy and close shots fast.  You will not be disappointed.
Your mileage may vary. But I doubt it.

For like 3 hours last night I was looking through the scope aiming across the street (just the scope, not w/ the rifle, of course).  It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.  I almost cried.

Now I can't wait til this weekend when I can properly test her on the range.  This puppie is going on the Colt LE 6920 w/ the flat top adapter.

They are awesome. And they are worth every penny. I had ordered one four months ago from my local FFL. But, then my wife decided we have to buy a new house and my money is all gone.
I had a chance to shoot with one a few times before I ordered. For a battlefield optic, they can not be beat. The 4x scope makes a huge difference identifying threats 100+ yards out. No batteries to fail either.

Here is the link to the one that was ordered for me. I am very sad to say it is up for sale in the EE instead of sitting on my RRA right now.

If you're actually going to USE it, yes it's worth every cent.

The TA31/TA11 is worth every cent, assuming you actually shoot your guns.  It's the best general purpose optic for an AR for everything except CQB.

I own four.

What do you think about mounting aimpoints in front of the ACOG?  Why do people do it?

In-line?

This might make sense as a "poor man's BAC" when using the TA01 which has no BAC.  Otherwise they need to reduce their crack intake.

+4. You suck.

Zak, Are you running a TA-11 with a 6.8 SPC upper? How does the drop compensator work for the cartridge?

Yes.

It works just as well as 75-77gr 223, or 308 from my AR10 at BDC distances.   All my ACOGs have the M193/20" BDC, so I use the donut edges from 0-350, and use the BDC at 400.   I aim approx 6" high at 400 yards vs. the 400m BDC line, or just hold at the top of the plate.   If I go up in altitude to 6800' from 5000', I hold "on" at 400y with the 400m BDC line.

Poor man's BAC? Doesn't it cost more than a single TA31?

More stupid BAC ACOG tricks:

#1.  Need more donut illumination?   Duct tape a keychain LED over the fiber-optic pipe.

#2.  Need a true 1X CQB optic temporarily, without your eyes "zooming" through the scope?    Put a strip of duct tape over the objective lens.   Voila: true OEG.  (works particularly well combined with #1)

Hehe, since I'm taking photos of the NSN tomorrow with the YL, I'll have her also pose with the NSN/ML2 setup.   Maybe with the FDCC t-shirt?

I swung by my local dealership tonight just to see what scopes they had in there. Surprise Surprise they had a TA31F about to be put on ebay. I told him if he let me make payments on it I would take it. Sure enough...He did. Now in a couple of months that baby will be all mine. Does anybody have any preference on mounting the scope to the upper? It comes with one already, but didnt know if I should end up getting the ARMS mount.
